What Is the Lincoln Continental Mark V?

The Mark V's Place in the Continental Mark Series

The Lincoln Continental Mark V is the third generation of Lincoln's personal luxury coupe, built for the 1977, 1978, and 1979 model years. It was the best-selling Mark generation, with roughly 228,000 cars produced. Riding on a 120.4-inch wheelbase and powered by 400 and 460 cu in V8 engines, the Mark V was known for its hidden headlamps, opera windows, and an unusually broad lineup of Designer Series and special editions — including Bill Blass, Cartier, Givenchy, and Pucci editions, the 1978 Diamond Jubilee, and the 1979 Collector's Series.
